About USGBC LEED Buildings
The U.S. Green Building Council, or USGBC implemented the LEED rating system in order to provide a third party certification for "green" buildings. Included in this framework for green buildings are strategies for energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emmissions reduction, and improved indoor environmental quality.
The Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Credit, 3.2 was updated in 2009. It requires the following parameters to be measured: Formaldehyde, Particulates, Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) and occasionally 4-Phenylcyclohexene (4-PCH).
